Road Safety

What are we doing around Road Safety?

The Foundation carries out actions aimed at improving road safety to reduce accident rates. The main goal is to raise awareness and promote road safety education, focusing on three priority groups: minors, young people and older drivers.

The Foundation also promotes social actions dedicated to the most unprotected groups in the territories where the group has a presence. Among these, an agreement with UNICEF kicked off in 2017 focused on promoting sustainable mobility and Road Safety in Brazil, India, and Mexico.

As strategic ally of UNICEF, Abertis is committed to fight against one of the main causes of death among schoolchildren: traffic accidents. This alliance focuses on alleviating the lack of safe infrastructure in school zones, improving the behaviour of drivers and companions and promoting safe and sustainable mobility for children in cities, reinforcing available resources, as well as legislation in developing countries in relation to road safety, promoting its dissemination and compliance.

Initiatives

A campaign that highlights the importance of anticipating one of the most common yet least visible risks on the road: drowsiness while driving.

With a relatable message through Juan, who invites drivers to stop, rest, and have a coffee while sharing his story, the initiative aims to help recognize early signs of fatigue and act in time to prevent accidents.

This initiative is carried out in schools across Spain, aimed at young people and teenagers, and led by Sebas Lorente, speaker and writer.

Through his own testimony, Sebas explains how his life changed after a traffic accident when leaving a nightclub, highlighting the importance of not drinking and driving and always acting responsibly on the road.

This alliance is carried out in Brazil through the “Agenda Cidade” project, promoting safer urban mobility in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Manaus, three of the country’s major cities, giving young people a voice and encouraging their participation in building more inclusive and sustainable cities.

Campaign developed together with the Red Cross, focused on educating about the key actions to take in the event of an accident, based on the PAS methodology (Prevent-Alert-Assist).

The project aims to create an emotional impact, especially among young audiences, to encourage greater awareness and responsibility behind the wheel.

An initiative led by Enzo Santi and his real testimony, aiming to raise awareness about distractions while driving, especially mobile phone use.

His main message is clear: any notification can wait if it means ensuring road safety.

Awareness campaign encouraging young people to reflect on the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Through the concept of a “blackout”, the campaign has been presented in several nightclubs in Barcelona, Valencia, Salamanca, Madrid and Ibiza, where the music and lights suddenly shut off to show a video featuring Carlos Rubio, a young man who ended up in prison after an accident in which his friend died because he was driving drunk.
