The abertis foundation has followed abertis’s lead by renewing the collaboration agreement with the Pasqual Maragall Foundation and its aims, which take the shape of the barcelonaβeta research project on Alzheimer's disease.
The Pasqual Maragall Foundation was established in April 2008 as a response by the Ex-president of the Government of Catalonia himself to his public announcement that he had been diagnosed with the illness. The barcelonaβeta project is a scientific/healthcare project in the scope of neurodegenerative diseases and cognitive aging problems; its objective is to create a new-generation complex in which the most transformative research will be combined with innovation aimed at responding to as-of-yet uncovered needs and making progress in the early diagnosis of the disease. The centre would comprise the Pasqual Maragall Research Institute, a Memory Clinic and a Resources and Interpretation Centre.
