“Espai Terra” is a programme produced by TV3 (Televisió de Catalunya) which deals with nature, the environment and traditions linked to the earth. Presented by the meteorologist Tomàs Molina, it is broadcast every evening Monday to Friday in prime time, and has an average of 260,000 viewers and an audience share of 11.6%.
abertis and the abertis foundation have sponsored this programme since 2009. Among the principal innovations for “Espai Terra” in 2010 we must mention the “Paisatge i Entorn” awards, which recognise the best environmental research studies carried out by secondary school and baccalaureate students in Catalonia. The award ceremony in the castle of Castellet was attended by the regional minister of Education of the Government of Catalonia, Ernest Maragall; the Head of TV3, Mònica Terribas; and the president of abertis, Salvador Alemany.
At the same time, “Espai Terra” published a book with the best photographs sent in by the programme’s viewers throughout 2010, and it participated in the “Saló de l’Ensenyament” (Fira de Barcelona) where visitors to the stand could learn the secrets behind different TV techniques. Particular mention should be made of the award the programme received at the “Science in Action” International Fair, in Santiago de Compostela, for a report on the recuperation of the aquifer in the Tablas de Daimiel National Park (Ciudad Real).
