The abertis foundation has the distinction of being a founding member of the MACBA (Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art). As a step further in this consolidated relationship, a collaboration agreement was signed between both institutions with the aim of helping to secure new works for the museum: new incorporations which would be added to the already considerable contemporary art collection.

Works by Bartolozzi, Beuys, Català-Roca, Constant, Duchamp, Ruscha, Richard Hamilton, Rauschenberg, and many more up to Lawrence Weiner, in classical, three-dimensional or media formats, constitute the bulk of the MACBA’s new acquisitions, which, in line with a display policy created on the basis of the acquisitions made during the previous year, will make up the exceptional exhibition centre for recent art.
