Visits and mobility at the Parc de Collserola
Institution: The Parc de Collserola
consortium and the consortium of the Barcelona Institute for Metropolitan
Studies
Periode: 2007-2009
The unique nature of the Parc
de Collserola
, which extends over nine heavily
populated towns in Barcelona metropolitan region, has a particular bearing
on the way the park is used, the activities carried out and the means of
transport used to reach this nature spot.
Since 2007 the abertis foundation has been promoting a study carried out by the Parc de Collserola consortium and the consortium of the Barcelona Institute for Metropolitan Studies in order to gain a greater acquaintance of the habits of visitors to the Parc de Collserola in terms of mobility, their needs and their expectations. The ultimate goal of the study is to establish a location that is suited to the varying needs and expectations of the population, whilst assuring the park is preserved.
Between the end of June and the beginning of July 2008, researchers conducted
the third phase of the survey on visits to and mobility of users at the Parc
de Collserola, which led to the following conclusions:
- 81.3% of visitors to the park come from one of the nearby towns.
- Most users (49.4%) reach the park using private transport.
- Most journeys within the park are made on foot (75.5%).
The study will conclude in 2009 and will make it possible to optimise accessibility and protection in the park.
