Around 150 people participated in the charity walk and family activities organised by the abertis Voluntaris group, which were held in Foix Natural Park and Castellet Castle. The events are part of the 3rd abertis Corporate Volunteer Day, to be held on 12 December.
The charity walk consisted of an 11-km route through the Foix Natural Park that surrounds Castellet Castle, the headquarters of the abertis foundation. Around 50 people participated in this environmental and educational activity, which was supported by the park rangers.
The children and some parents stayed in the fortress, where the volunteers organised a welcoming team and different games and activities, together with a tour of Castellet Castle. The volunteers also made sure that the event was enjoyed by 40 boys and girls from Concepció Juvanteny Foundation foster homes, with which they collaborate in numerous projects.
The next Voluntaris event will be on Monday, 12 December. With the slogan “Take a child by the hand”, this third edition of the abertis Corporate Volunteer Day will be dedicated to children. The different business units operating in Spain, France, Chile and Puerto Rico will be organising different events for the occasion.
In the Zona Franca Logistics Park in Barcelona, where abertis corporate headquarters are located, there will be an exhibition about the Universal Declaration of the Rights of the Child, together with a charity fair where different NGOs, fair trade organisations and Special Work Centres will be selling their products. There will also be an institutional event, with Francisco Reynés and Salvador Alemany, the CEO and President of abertis, respectively, which will describe different experiences in foster homes such as the Concepció Juvanteny Foundation and La Casa dels Xuklis. Furthermore, up to 20 December, there will be a collection of basic necessities for the Food Bank.
