The abertis group has once again provided technical and human support for the TV3 Marathon, the 16th edition of which is devoted to cardio-vascular illnesses. This initiative by the Catalan television channel has twin goals: to raise awareness in the community of illnesses which affect thousands of people, and to support biomedical research.
abertis telecom has supported this charity TV marathon since it was first organised in 1992. This year, support has focused on providing the mobile links needed to broadcast live from the telephone call centres, located at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, TV3's studio 4 in Sant Joan Despí, the Girona conference centre, the university of Lleida, the port of Tarragona, the Kursaal theatre in Manresa, the monastery of Poblet and Barcelona's Carrer de la Boqueria.
For their part, the general manager of abertis telecom, Tobías Martínez, and his deputy, Carlos Espinós, worked as volunteers to take calls from members of the public making their donations by telephone.
The abertis corporation also made a donation which will serve to publish the annual report of the TV3 Marathon foundation, containing all the activities organised in the course of the year.
The TV3 Marathon foundation collected over six million euros thanks to the host of charity activities which were organised and to the generous donations by individuals and organisations. This sum will be used to support biomedical research projects into heart disease.
