Special Olympics. "Paths of Emotions" exhibition ]

abertis prepared a specific project for collaborating in the 7th edition of the Special Olympic Games, which took place in Badalona from June 10th to 13th 2004. The games had the participation of 2,000 athletes from 20 countries. This event is a reflection of the spirit of the Special Olympics movement, the main objective of which is to foster the personal development and the integration of people with a psychic disability through sport. In view of its link with this territory, in the project, abertis sponsored the route of the Olympic torch between L'Escala and Badalona, going through some of the main Catalan cities. The acesa athletics team accompanied the torch on the torch bearers' various stages.

While the events were taking place, an area was prepared in the village, in which the participating athletes could reflect the feelings and emotions they experienced during the games. These personal experiences, together with a far-reaching photographic report enabled an exhibition to be put together which has continued with the spirit and the values of the games: solidarity, respect and the desire to do better.

At the inauguration of the exhibition Paths of Emotions, various people from the worlds of politics, sports, society and culture took part. The exhibition was held in the central vestibule of a large Barcelona shopping centre through which more than 600,000 people passed during the period when the show was installed. This project earned abertis the prize for "social initiative" of the Family Business and Institutional Awards, awarded by the Group of Catalan Associations for the Family. The show has turned into an itinerant exhibition that has gone to other cities, such as Mollerussa, where the exhibition was ceded to the ACUDAM association.
