The abertis foundation participated in the CONAMA (7th National Environmental Congress), contributing its opinions and knowledge at various Technical Workshops, Work Groups and Reflections. The foundation also led a Dynamic Hall entitled Foundations and the environment: the tertiary sector in the Spanish environmental panorama and made the most of this setting to present a study on Spanish organisations dedicated to protecting the environment.
This congress is the environmental meeting with the largest convocation and interest that is held in Spain and every two years it brings together the main players in this matter: public administrations, companies, professional associations, institutions, and so on. Therefore it is considered to be the summit on sustainable development. At its seventh edition, which took place between November 22nd and 26th 2004, 8,000 people attended.
Martí Boada, trustee of the abertis foundation and coordinator of the project State of the environmental foundation in Spain was responsible for presenting the conclusions of the study carried out by the foundation, with the support of the Science and Technology Institute of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). The work consisted of compiling - for the first time - information about 164 non-profit organisations that operate in our country and evaluating the current state of the sector.
