abertis actively collaborated with the Forum of Cultures with the aim of contributing to an initiative which, in keeping with the corporate values, promoted social responsibility, sustainable development and culture and factors of progress for the whole society.

With mobility and communication of people as the main axis, abertis provided the Forum with 60 wheelchairs so that people with reduced mobility could get around. These wheelchairs were produced in collaboration with the Catalan Institute of Technology and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Their design included a mechanical gear change which improved movement on irregular terrain or steep slopes. At the end of the event, these wheelchairs were distributed to various welfare organisations.

Another project to highlight within the framework of the Forum was the participation in an initiative of an informative nature about matters concerning urbanism, mobility and urban development. A large model of the City of Barcelona, which was 190 m2 and on a scale of 1:1000 was presented at the exhibition Barcelona in Progress, and was used as a teaching and educational tool to explain to visitors the concepts and the parameters of the urban growth of the city. More than half a million people visited the model at the Forum during the 128 days it was open to the public.

Within the series of Dialogues about The role of the company in the 21st century, the chief executive of abertis, Salvador Alemany, participated in the session called Partnership and Leadership. How and why to create alliances with other social agents.

The Workshop of Good Business Practices, conceived by the Forum to show visitors the good practices carried out by companies in the various areas of activity, enabled abertis to show its priority lines of action: The mobility and communication of people, particularly those with reduced mobility and the improvement of road safety; the environment, minimising the environmental impact of its activities; and culture, disseminating the cultural, historic and artistic heritage.
