Coinciding with Sleep Apnoea Year, the abertis foundation is supporting the campaign backed by the Respira foundation to raise awareness of this respiratory disorder which causes sleepiness. In Spain there are between 5 and 7 million people who suffer from this illness to a greater or lesser extent, though it is not always correctly diagnosed and treated. It should also be stressed that drivers who suffer from Apnoea run six times the risk of having a traffic accident, and that 20% of accidents are linked to tiredness.
Collaboration, with the Ministry of Health and Consumption and other companies, to promote the CNIC, an institution that hopes to lead cardiovascular research at an international level presided by Valentín Fuster. The great challenge of the CNIC is to set up a new transnational research model, with a double direction, which enables both the application of basic knowledge to the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis or prevention of cardiovascular diseases, as well as contributing to responding to the scientific queries that arise from daily clinical practice in the patient’s GP.
