The headquarters of the Abertis Foundation, the Castellet castle, is the UNESCO International Centre for Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves. Its work is focussed on the creation of the Network of Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves, promoting and carrying out activities aimed at strengthening the MAB programme and the World Network of Biosphere Reserves. It represents a unique opportunity to promote the study and conservation of the Mediterranean area, establishing links in the management of biodiversity and natural resources between the two shores of the Mediterranean.
The Castellet castle has the ISO 14001 environmental management certification. Furthermore, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, the only international accreditation organisation in sustainable tourism, and linked to the United Nations organisations, recently granted the headquarters of the Abertis Foundation the Biosphere Responsible Tourism certification.
In the environmental field, the Abertis Foundation also works to reduce the carbon footprint generated by the Abertis Group’s economic activity and, in accordance with the goals of the Abertis Group, we optimise waste management and promote the conservation of the biodiversity of the natural areas in which we are present.
