Abertis’ commitment to the countries where the Group carries out its activity involves different actions that contribute to the economic and social development of these territories. The Abertis Foundation’s activities focus on road safety, social action, culture and the environment.
Our Foundation promotes a Road Safety Programme in partnership with the country's main public-private entities. We raise awareness among the population, especially among children, young people and elderly drivers, of the need for safe, responsible mobility.
The Foundation's Headquarters, Castellet Castle, is the UNESCO International Centre for Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves. It is the world's first case of a public-private partnership. From here, the creation of the Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves Network has been promoted, along with other environmental actions.
Through the different activities it carries out, the Foundation encourages initiatives conducive to the incorporation of disabled people into the work environment. It also promotes education through an extensive scholarship programme, as well as through the International Network of Abertis Chairs in Transport Infrastructure Management.
Working in partnership with the world's great cultural institutions, the Foundation sponsors artistic activities to make culture more accessible to people. It also has two patrimonial assets of great interest open to the public: Castellet Castle and the Roman quarry at El Mèdol.
