The Foundation in France
The Abertis Foundation began its activities in France in 2011 with the creation of an academic Chair together with the École des Ponts ParisTech and IFSTTAR, to work in research and training in the field of infrastructure management, and launching a training programme for young people on motorway driving: Autoroute Académie. The chairman of the Sanef Group, Alain Minc, also heads the French branch of the Foundation.
The Chaire Abertis, under Professor Simon Cohen, is devoted to training and research into transport infrastructure management. Together with the Chairs at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona) and La Sapienza University (Rome), it forms a European network of specialist Chairs which award the international Abertis Prize for research into transport infrastructure management.
Autoroute Académie is a training programme for motorway driving. Set up by the Abertis Foundation and the Sanef Group, it is aimed at licensed drivers and driving school pupils aged between 18 and 25. The scheme is supported by the main driving school associations in the country and also by the French government, through its interministerial delegation for Road Safety.
